If you’re writing a blog, you always want more views and more comments.
Face it, talking with yourself isn’t nearly as much fun as being in conversation with others.
An easy way to reach more people is to do a little research, make a targeted list and then share with that list. This video explains what I mean:
Get More Blog Views With Facebook

Great video, Denise!
Your point on providing relevant and non-spammy content is key here. Not to bombard someone’s page with your “ads,” but to offer some value. Quick tip that’s straight up and to the point.
I agree J, spammy-ness factor is a big ‘limiting’ factor for when I spread my stuff. I am very focused on providing relevant, invited, desired content, period. I’m also focused on feeling comfortable and confident doing so.
Denise’s video covers these bases well.
Keep it up!
Denise,
Thank you for this tip, very interesting
I agree that when using this technique, one should really provide extra value (for example a unique point of view to a story …).
Cheers,
Timo
Denise,
That’s a great, easy-to-follow tutorial. I’m inspired to do more with facebook. I think it has huge potential for content marketing if done in a targeted fashion!
Denise I’m curious to know how many hits you get from this, I’ve never tried it as I didn’t think it would add too much value, mainly because the only people that see it would be those visiting the page and so few people do that as they can so easily read posts in their news feeds.
Also here in the UK a fair amount of people would perceive that as spam, unless you had permission from the page owner.
Not saying my perceptions are right or wrong, would just like more info to help me. Thanks
Where this kind of posting really sees a benefit is in the hits on the blog post. By reaching out to larger audiences like HGTV and “The Amanda’s” on The Style Network – we can get a hundred hits or so. They don’t immediately turn in to customers – but we’re using it to try and fill the top of the sales funnel for potential buyers in the market interested in custom closets
Facebook’s closed-off ecosystem is what’s deterring me from having a presence on there. I like the leveraging idea, though it’s so easily abused that I think more and more page admins will close off this avenue of siphoning some of their traffic. And as Gemma pointed out, I’m not sure how many people really read these comment streams. Unless you have a really engaged audience that interacts with each other on the stream, your post can easily get lost. And as more internet marketers catch on to this technique and invariably abuse it, its effectiveness will decrease.
I agree Jeanne – I think it has great potential for abuse so I’m just going to keep an eye on things and utilize while I can – it helps get hits to the blog and create awareness. I’m also doing it in hopes a person connected with the media in some way may find the topic of interest and incorporate in to a story. We have an inquiry from the Nate Berkus team. Not guaranteed it’s from these efforts – but it’s possible!
It’s strange, that’s one of those things I know I should be doing, but don’t. Perhaps because I’m shy and retiring and something is telling me it’s spammy. Maybe I should just get over it and do it!
The same also goes for other social media platforms of course.
BTW, I had to watch the video on YouTube. The box on this site displays Cincopa user is out of traffic quota for this month” on my end.
Denise – I was just wondering: are you doing this as ‘the business page’ in Facebook or as yourself? I couldn’t quite see how you were logged in on the video.
I know that as a Page administrator myself I am less likely to mark comments as spam if they’re from a related page rather than from a user (users can really abuse Facebook business pages if you’re not careful).
And if that related page likes my page as well, then again I’m more likely to keep the comment on my business page since it makes sense to foster that relationship.
Good luck with the Nate Berkus show.
I do it as a business page Priya – on pages that we’re following as a business. And thanks for the well wishes with Nate. It’s likely to just be a closet project with no press – but still fun and who knows!
Hi Denise,
I’ve procrastinated with Facebook… I haven’t used it almost at all yet. I’ve prioritized a few things over it, but once those are out of the way (and they should be in less than a month) I’ll definitely start using Facebook more. And I think your idea will prove to be extremely valuable. Thank you
Don’t know if this will move you any faster Peter, but the queen of Facebook, Mari Smith, says that Fan Pages and their content are indexed in Google. So, even though it’s not as open and fast and Google+, it’s still a “plus”.
Great tip Denise! I love this idea.
